OUT NOW! The Penske File – Burn Into The Earth

So you know how bands make it big everywhere but in their hometown? Let’s not make this the case for one of my favourite bands Burlington’s own Melodic Punk Rock trio The Penske File. These guys have been putting in the hours in studio and on tour with zealous for months. The fruits of their labour are now ripe for the picking as their latest release Burn Into the Earth is now available on iTunes. https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/burn-into-the-earth/id994613102

I was fortunate enough to be at the Album release at Club Absinthe a few weeks ago and picked up a hard copy that has been spinning non stop in my car. They are currently touring the US (Flint 02 Pittsburgh 05 Buffalo 07 Boston 08 Philly 09 and Atlanta on the 12th)
pen
so show them some love and let your American Cousins and friends know they are in town.

These hard working lads and their team have in the past few months, signed with Stomp Records in Canada, signed with A-F Records for distribution in the U.S, Released a top notch video for their song Dammed (the lead track on the album)

Opened for Anti Flag, toured with The Creepshow, toured with Fire Next Time and Rocked Pouzza Fest in Montreal “At 5pm, the band that would eventually become my personal highlight of the festival got on stage: The Penske File. “.
Everywhere they go the leave a grand impression and have been receiving cudos from publications like Riff You, Punknews.org, CBC Music (yes even CBC) and more .
They return for some Ontario Dates with BIGWIG and Brutal Youth (Oshawa 23rd Guelph 24th Toronto 25th Barrie 26th London 27th then Hamilton on the 28th). Pick the show closest to you and Go! You won’t be disappointed.

Keep Tabs by liking them on FB https://www.facebook.com/thepenskefile You can find all their social contacts there.

Congrats Guys, Keep up the hard work. 🙂

Penske File Album Fundraiser

Just over two years ago I came across a melodic punk band that was playing the local scene.  I really liked what I heard online, it was their first EP Grave Escapes that caught my attention.

They quickly followed the ep up with their Full Length Album “A Restless Symphony” and that got me hooked.

Following on the social networks I saw they were playing local and ventured out to catch them at the top of the hill in Waterdown.

I have to tell you I was one of the oldest in the bar at the time so dancing was out of the question.  That didn’t matter because bassist James Hall Did enough dancing for the entire bar.  The band had just come off a pretty grueling tour of Southwestern Ontario but you could not tell from the energy they brought to the stage.  They played two sets and did not disappoint.  I have seen them a few times since, pretty much every time they have played the Burlington area.

They have spent the past few weeks in studio working on their second full length album and I can not wait to hear it.  Tonight at the Black Bull in Burlington I will get a chance to hear some of the new tracks, and so can you.  They are holding an Album Fundraiser with support from

Burly Calling Yeah Baby

This week in Burlington Ontario is @BurlyCalling Week.

burly2014

“Burly Calling” was a joke started by the Saint Alvia Cartel in 2007 to make money for tour support. The original concept was a “joke” tour across their home town of Burlington, Ontario from one of end of the city to another. This highly successful event took different shapes over the next few years bringing us to the current inception it is now.
BURLY CALLING has evolved itself into a showcase spanning over 3 days of some of Canada’s coolest & ground breaking artists. A 3 day party/pub crawl throughout Burlington’s Down Town bar scene. Littered with English pubs and hot spots alike, no rock-n-roll filled venue is farther than a stumble away at BURLY CALLING.

This years line up is huge with some huge bands.

This list from the Burly Calling website just scratches the surface
